India vs Sri Lanka: 2nd Test 2008 (DAY ONE)

The most important match of the current test series i.e., the second test between India and the home team Sri Lnaka that has already won the first test with a huge margin, started today at the Galle International Stadium, Galle.

India has won the toss for the first time in the series and Anil Kumble decided to bat first without any hesitation. India started of quite well with a century partnership between the two youngest batsmen in the Indian batting line up Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir. Rain interrupted just after lunch on day one and single delivery could not be bowled in the second half. Finaly when the game started Indian batsmen specially the top three high profile batsmen Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly surrendered with in three overs before the Sri Lankan bowlers after Gautam Gambhir got out lbw from a straighter delivery from Ajanta Mendis by playing a good innings of 56 runs.

Match stopped due to bad light in the evening and at that time Virender Shwag with an unbeaten century (128) and VVS Laxman (13) were at the crease. India needs partnership to place themselves in a better position in the match.
