A Close match between two Asian lions put to an end with a defeat for Sri Lankan lion, Pakistan started the innings with a spell binding performance, even though fall of one wicket very early but pakistan's batsman kept the balance between performance and fall of wicket till 10th over Pakistan was looking good with 65 runs and loss of one wicket, but in second power play 10-15 they managed to add only 15 runs with an unfortunate dramatic run out of Md. Hafeez.
Kamran Akmal played some good stroke and added 39 runs from his bat, veteran jewel Yunus Khan played a superb innings and sparked out the aura of his batting as any young cricketer made a useful 72 runs, till 38 over score was almost shaped up to a good total with 6 wicket in hand, one time the estimated score was around 300 or more but last ten over pakistan's batsman scattered a bit and of course Sri lankan bowled very well specially kulasekara bowled a control spell and off spin magician Muralidaran balanced a more tight bowling spell even if blaster Afridi and quick run master Musbah-ul-haq were in the crease still the magic of spin bound them in singles, and Pakistan's innings shaped up toa decent total of 277 .
Srilankaan lions came with two special hitter Dilshan and Tharanga, a huge support of crowd at home land doubled up there confidence, and a very familiar ground of Colombo where they grew and played thousand of times seemed a strange pitch for the openers and all of a sudden pitch was conquered by Pakistan's bowling attack Dilshan couldn't open up his bats as his usual style bowler of Pakistan bowled so strategically than none of them could hit big shots in mandatory power play, Sri lankan openers just made a little contribution of 42 runs with out any loss of wicket. When it was time to make big hits in second power play fall of one wicket again slowed down the chase with a loss of one wicket Sri Lanka made 78 runs. Match was almost favoring Sri Lanka but deadly bowling of Afridi made a disaster to Sri Lankan batting squad.
Sri Lankan batting champions Jyawardene and Samaraweera disapointed the home crowd and got out with no contribution to team Fighter lion of Sri lanka Sangakkara stood with a blinking hope for the team kept the hope of win till 37 over, when there was a need of his original batting and big hits he too got out, this was the time of disaster for Sri Lanka.
Angelo Mathews came in to the ground but could make a little assist to his team, tail batting line up performed very well Kulasekara gave a strong fight and re-created the hope of win but it was too late and his little contribution went in vein, it was an interesting match to watch with lots of ups and downs sometime match was in Pakistan hands sometime in Sri Lanka's hand Sri lanka lost to Pakistan in just 11 runs in the 10th match of world cup 2011, a first of its kind close match in world cup 2011, many more action to come.
